Canggu is made up of a stretch of beaches. There’s Echo Beach, Batu Bolong Beach (the main beach), Nelayan Beach, and Berawa Beach further down.

Learn to Surf at Canggu Beach

Canggu has waves suitable for surfers of every level. A motorbike with a surfboard attached, driving to one of the beaches ready to crash into the waves, you’ll see it all day long. Expect the surfers to be on their board by 6 am, and it sure can get busy quickly.

There are three famous surf spots in Canggu:

  • Batu Balong Beach (for adults)

Surfing season in Bali runs from May to September, although surfing is possible all year round. Rent a board or take some lessons and enjoy the waves!

La Laguna Gypsy Market

Once or twice the Gypsy Market in La Laguna is held. Over 150 stalls selling organic and ecological produce, live music played by bands, and all in one specially decorated location.

The products sold vary from; Clothing, Accessories, Food, Herbs & Spices, Coffee, and more. This is, without a doubt, the best market.

The market is held from 4 pm – 10 pm. The beautiful lights, live music, and decorations create a fairytale-like scene as soon as the sun goes down.

Entrance is free, and La Laguna is easy to reach by motorbike or car.

Tanah Lot Temple

Tanah Lot Temple is one of the things you must do in Canggu. The Tanah Lot Temple Complex is a famous religious site on top of a rock formation.

Although Tanah Lot is very popular with foreign visitors throughout the day, Balinese still come here to worship the gods of the Bali Sea.

One of the things that really like about Canggu is the bohemian culture. As you explore Canggu you can find plenty of murals on the walls and in the cafes and restaurants. The mural at the Old’s man bar is one of the favorites of travelers. You can also find murals towards Berawa and on the way to Old’s Man Surf spot. Some of the murals are quite funky, others are a bit more difficult to understand.

Canggu Market

The last place to visit on the list is Canggu traditional market or Pasar Canggu. The market is located in Raya Batu Bolong Street, before the police station if you are going toward the beach. A visit to the market is a chance to see local life. The market is most active in the early morning. You can find fresh fruits from local farmers and other produce at the market.
